SEO Consultants - search engine optimisation

SEO (search engine optimisation) is the work carried out on a website that ensures, new or old, that it can be found easily and ranks successfully (in SERPs - search engine result pages) when a keyword search is carried out in any of the major search engines: Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, &c.

Being found easily in the organic SERPs means the website must rank well for its particular subject or niche, meaning it must have developed a certain amount of authority. To rank well and gain authority for a particular subject your website will need to have had some good quality SEO and keyword research carried out, this is essential for good website optimisation - what is keyword research?

Keyword research is the process you use to find the keywords and key-phrases which are relevant to your website [business] and will enable it to rank well in the search engines. This means choosing prime keywords and key-phrases, along with associated keywords and key-phrases and the synonyms of these keywords and key-phrases - in accordance with the semantic (mainly Google's) web, that your potential customers are likely to use when they carry out a search on one of search engines, to find the products and services that you supply.

why is keyword research so important?

Irrelevant to whether you're a large company with a huge website or a small company with a niche website, without targeting the correct keywords and key-phrases you won’t get any visitors, or at least you won't get many! This isn't only relevant to natural 'organic' search; it's also relevant to paid PPC marketing. So if you're not using carefully crafted keywords and key-phrases in your: page Titles, Meta attributes, headings and body content - you're likely to be short of visitors from the search engines due to poor ranking of your website's pages in SERPs.

technical SEO

Another aspect of SEO is technical SEO, this consists of ensuring the code used to write a website is search engine friendly - this can include not using JavaScript for links or for navigation. You will also need to ensure that the navigation and page layout throughout the website is not only friendly to visitors, i.e. website users (potential customers), but also to the search engine spiders from Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, &c, because it's the search engine spiders that appraise your website. Therefore it is essential that you carry out keyword research; local business link-building/citation building, i.e. the sites that link to your site say a lot of good stuff about your site, and not only offer a domain link; social media marketing - you know: Twitter, Facebook, Google My Business, &c; article marketing, but using your own domain Blog, not wasting time posting on Blogs no one will ever read - all of these actions, plus quite a few more... offer good practice search engine optimisation, which can improve the authority of your website, especially within its own locality, industry or niche market. Then of course there's ensuring your website is mobile friendly - if it isn't then you better make sure it is; you can test whether it is here with Google's mobile friendly test tool.
